Audio available for B1 version

Once upon a time, in a lush green forest near a beautiful lake, lived three special friends - a Deer, a Woodpecker who had her nest high in a tree, and a Turtle who called the lake his home. These three lived in perfect harmony, their friendship bringing joy and peace to their lives.

One day, a hunter came to the forest. Noticing the footprints of the Deer by the lake's edge, he decided to capture the Deer. He set a strong leather trap near the water and left.

When the Deer went to drink water later that night, he was caught in the hunter's trap. In distress, he called out loudly. Hearing his cries, both the Woodpecker and the Turtle rushed over to help.

The Woodpecker quickly came up with a plan. She said to the Turtle, "You have sharp teeth. If you gnaw at the trap, we can free our friend. I'll make sure the hunter stays away." And so, the Turtle started chewing on the trap, while the Woodpecker flew towards the hunter's house.

As dawn broke, the hunter, carrying his knife, was about to leave his house. Suddenly, the Woodpecker swooped down, flapping her wings at the hunter's face. This startled the hunter, making him go back inside. He decided to leave from his back door next time.

The clever Woodpecker guessed the hunter's move. She sat by the back door, ready to intervene once more. As the hunter appeared, she flew at him again, stopping him in his tracks. This game of distraction continued till the sun was high in the sky.

Finally, the Woodpecker returned to her friends, alerting them of the hunter's arrival. By this time, the Turtle had managed to gnaw through all but one of the trap's bonds. Despite the pain and the blood in his mouth, he continued his efforts. The Deer, hearing the warning, used all his strength and broke the last bond, freeing himself just in time as the hunter approached.

The Woodpecker flew back to her nest, while the Deer ran deeper into the woods. Unfortunately, the Turtle, weakened by his efforts, couldn't move and was captured by the hunter. Seeing his friend in trouble, the Deer decided to lure the hunter away. He let the hunter see him, then led him further into the forest. Once they were far enough, the Deer swiftly escaped, and rushed back to the trapped Turtle.

The Turtle wasn't where he left him. He called out, and heard the Turtle's voice from a bag hanging on a tree. Using his antlers, the Deer tore open the bag, freeing the Turtle.

The Deer then advised his friends, "The hunter might return soon. Woodpecker, fly high up to your nest. Turtle, hide in your lake. And I will camouflage myself in the forest." When the hunter returned, he found nothing but his torn bag. All three friends had escaped.

And so, the Deer, the Woodpecker, and the Turtle continued to live happily in their forest home, their friendship and courage a testament to the fact that when friends work together, they can overcome even the toughest challenges.

Once upon a...well, you know how these things start. In a forest, greener than broccoli on your plate, three buddies lived. There was Deer, always prancing around as if playing hopscotch. Woodpecker lived up in her tree house, always tap-tap-tapping, probably trying to invent a new dance. And Turtle? Just floating about in his lake, taking life one lazy swim at a time.

One day, a hunter showed up. Probably got lost on his way to the market. He sees Deer's footprints and thinks, "Oh, a new dance partner!" and sets up a trap. Rude!

That evening, thirsty Deer walks over and – SNAP – gets caught in the trap. He yells, "Uh-oh, spaghetti-o!"

Woodpecker and Turtle waddle and flap over. Woodpecker, with her ever-busy beak, says, "Alright, Turtle. Time to show off those chompers. You chew, I'll play 'distract-the-hunter' tag."

Turtle goes, "Chew? Why not? Better than broccoli!" and starts gnawing. Meanwhile, Woodpecker's got her game face on.

The next morning, the hunter, all set with his hunter-y stuff, heads out. But just as he's about to step out, Woodpecker dive-bombs, yelling, "Tag! You're it!" The hunter, a little jumpy, dashes back inside. "I knew I should've stuck to dance school," he mumbles.

Our smart Woodpecker's onto him. She knows he'll try the backdoor, so she waits. As the hunter sneaks out, she swoops down shouting, "Boo! Gotcha again!"

This little game goes on until the hunter's dizzy. Woodpecker, puffing out her chest proudly, returns to the squad. By now, Turtle's managed to make the trap look like it’s been through a shredder.

Deer, feeling all the pep in his step again, breaks free. But as he does, the hunter spots him. Oh no! Deer dashes, Woodpecker flies high, but Turtle, well, he's...slowing down.

Hunter grabs Turtle and thinks, "Soup, maybe?" Deer's not having it. He jumps out, getting the hunter's attention and leading him on a wild dance through the forest.

With the hunter distracted, Deer rushes back, finding Turtle, who's starting to feel like a packed lunch in a bag. Deer uses those antlers like a can opener and – voila! – Turtle's out.

"All clear team!" Deer shouts. "Woodpecker, sky-high hideout! Turtle, dive deep! And me? I'm pulling a hide-and-seek champ move."

Hunter returns, scratching his head. "Where did they go?" But all he finds is his torn bag and maybe, just maybe, a newfound respect for animals.

And so, in the heart of the forest, the fabulous trio kept living, laughing, and dancing. Proving once and for all that when friends stick together, there's no challenge they can't groove through.

Three pals so dear—a Deer, a Turtle, and Bird—
Lived by a lake where sweet laughter was heard.
True buddies they were, just as close as could be,
From the tip-top of trees to the depths of the sea.

Now, into their woods snuck a hunter one day,
With traps and with snares to take Deer-friend away.
He laid down his trap near the shimmering lake,
Then off to his cabin, a snooze for to take.

Deer came for a sip, not a clue, not a hint,
'Til caught by the trap, he let out a loud squint!
Both Birdie and Turtle rushed fast to his side,
Determined to free him, they'd not be denied.

Said Birdie to Turtle, "Your teeth sharp and fine,
Could nibble this trap and release Deer in time.
I'll fly off to bug that ol' hunter, you see,
He won't even guess that it's all done by me."

So, Turtle got chewing and Bird took to sky,
To ruffle some feathers and make sure the guy
Would stay in his cabin, his plans all delayed,
As Turtle kept chewing, his courage displayed.

Though dawn cracked the sky, and the hunter came out,
Birdie dive-bombed his head with a flutter and shout.
He ducked back inside, then attempted retreat,
Through his backdoor—too bad, Birdie just can't be beat!

As high sun replaced dawn, Bird returned with a cheer,
"Dear friends, he's a-coming, but don't you all fear."
Turtle bit the last knot, Deer snapped it in two,
Just moments before the man came into view.

Turtle was tired, on the ground he lay still,
The hunter grabbed him, oh, what a sad fill!
But Deer had a plan, he pranced into the sight,
And led the man off, running fast in daylight.

Turtle's muffled cries led Deer back to a bag,
Hanging on a tree, not the time for a lag!
With a rip and a tear, using antlers so grand,
Deer opened the bag and helped Turtle to land.

“Quick to your places!” Deer told his best mates,
“Birdie, to the trees; Turtle, lake's where you skate.
And I’ll blend with the trees, we’ll all hide away,
When that hunter returns to no catch today."

So, when the man saw his torn bag, he just sighed,
Empty-handed he left, while the friends high-fived.
Bird in her nest, Turtle safe in his lake,
And Deer in the woods—a nap he did take.

Together they stayed, their friendship so grand,
Proof that courage and love go together like sand
And the sea, like the sky and the bright shining sun.
When friends stick together, there's nothing can't be done!
