Audio available for B1 version

Once upon a time, there was an Old Woman who had a great love for wine. As she walked down a dusty road one day, her eyes caught the sight of a wine jar lying by the side of the path. Her heart leapt with joy at the sight. "Surely, it is full of wine," she thought, hurrying towards it.

She picked up the jar with trembling hands, feeling its weight. But alas, it was light! It was not full as she had hoped. Disappointment filled her heart. Yet, she didn't throw the jar away. Instead, she lifted it up to her nose and took a deep breath.

The strong smell of wine from inside the jug filled her nostrils. She closed her eyes, and the fragrance brought back pleasant memories. She remembered cheerful feasts with friends, and warm, cozy nights by the fireplace. She recalled laughter, song, and stories shared over a glass of wine.

Though the jar was empty, the Old Woman felt joy in her heart. She held onto the jar, her face softened into a smile, and she continued on her way. The empty wine jug had given her no wine, but it had given her a treasure of fond memories.

Once upon a time, way down on Dizzy Dusty Lane, there was an Old Woman who loved wine so much, she sang to her grapes at bedtime. "Nighty night, my juicy little friends," she'd coo.

One sunny day, while prancing down that dusty road like she was on a fashion runway, she spotted a wine jar. Her heart leapt like a frog in a dance-off. "Blimey, it must be full of wine!" she thought, her feet taking her towards it faster than a snail wearing running shoes.

Picking up the jar with hands shakier than a jelly on a rollercoaster, she felt its weight. But alas, it was as light as a feather wearing diet shoes! No wine! Her face fell faster than a pie in a comedy sketch.

But hold on a minute, she wasn't about to toss it aside like yesterday's porridge. Oh no! She lifted it up to her sniffer and took a whiff.

Wham! The smell of wine hit her like a custard pie in a clown's face. She closed her eyes, and the fragrance did a dance in her head, bringing back memories of jolly feasts, friends, and a cat that played the violin. Yes, you heard that right, a cat with a fiddle! It was a wild time, let me tell you.

She remembered the laughter, the songs, and the time she tried to make wine from watermelons. Spoiler alert: it didn't work. But boy, did they have a laugh.

The Old Woman smiled a smile that could light up a room of grumpy trolls. Though the jar was emptier than a dragon's diary, it had given her something more priceless: a treasure trove of memories, and a good chuckle too!

She cradled the jar, winked at a passing squirrel in a top hat, and continued on her way, humming a tune and wiggling her toes in her oversized shoes.

The wine jar might have been a no-show, but in the theater of her mind, it was a standing ovation.

Beneath a sapphire sky so fine,
Walked an Old Woman with love for wine.
Along a winding path she trod,
Hoping to sip, to nod and applaud.

A jar by the roadside, gleaming so neat,
Quickened her heart and lightened her feet.
"Filled to the brim?" she hoped, she prayed,
Yet the jar’s light weight her hopes betrayed.

Though empty it was, to her surprise,
She held it close, and with twinkling eyes,
Drew its scent deep, so rich and so sweet,
Memories of merry times did it greet.

Dances and toasts, tales told so divine,
Laughter and jests over cups of fine wine.
Glowing hearths, and songs that flew,
Moments from the past, back in her view.

Embracing the jar, her spirits did lift,
For memories, they are a precious gift.
With jar in hand and a heart feeling light,
She walked on, with memories shining bright.
