Es war einmal in einer großen, geschäftigen Stadt eine Stadtmaus. Sie hatte einen Freund, der ganz anders war als sie, eine Landmaus, die auf dem ruhigen, friedlichen Land lebte. Obwohl ihre Zuhause so unterschiedlich waren, waren sie sehr gute Freunde.
Eines Tages beschloss die Stadtmaus, ihren Freund auf dem Land zu besuchen. Die Landmaus freute sich sehr, sie zu sehen. Sie wollte, dass sich die Stadtmaus wohlfühlt, und bereitete ein einfaches Essen mit Dingen wie Wurzeln, Getreide und Beeren vor.
Während sie aßen, erzählte die Stadtmaus von ihrem Leben in der Stadt. Sie sagte, dass es in der Stadt so viel Essen und viele schicke Dinge gäbe! Die Landmaus wurde sehr neugierig auf das Stadtleben und beschloss, es selbst zu sehen.
Als die Landmaus die Stadt besuchte, führte die Stadtmaus sie in ein großes Haus. Dort fanden sie viele leckere Speisen wie Käse, Früchte und Kuchen. Die Landmaus konnte ihren Augen kaum trauen; alles war so schick und lecker!
Aber gerade als sie das tolle Essen verspeisten, hörten sie laute Geräusche. Es waren die Menschen, die in dem Haus lebten, und ihre große, furchterregende Katze! Die beiden Mäuse mussten schnell wegrennen und sich verstecken. Sie verbrachten die ganze Nacht damit, sich zu verstecken, um der Gefahr zu entgehen. Für die Landmaus war das sehr beängstigend.
Nach dieser Nacht erkannte die Landmaus etwas Wichtiges. Sie vermisste ihr einfaches, ruhiges Leben auf dem Land. Für sie war es viel wichtiger, sich sicher zu fühlen und friedlich zu leben, als all das schicke Essen in der Stadt. Also beschloss sie, nach Hause zurückzukehren, in dem Wissen, dass das einfache Leben das beste Leben für sie war.
