Once upon a time, in a small village, a Mouse and a Weasel lived in the home of a farmer. One day, the farmer’s friend fell ill, and the doctor recommended sesame seeds to help him recover. The farmer got some sesame seeds from another friend and asked his wife to prepare them.
The farmer’s wife soaked and peeled the sesame seeds, laying them out to dry. The Weasel, unable to resist the sight of the seeds, began taking them to his den little by little throughout the day. Soon, most of the sesame seeds were gone.
Noticing the missing seeds, the farmer’s wife decided to keep an eye on the drying spot. As she watched quietly, she saw the Weasel coming out to take more seeds. When he noticed her watching, he realized he might be in trouble and thought, “I need to show that I am not a thief.” So, he began bringing the sesame seeds back from his den to the drying spot.
The farmer’s wife, seeing this, thought, “This Weasel must not be the thief; he is returning the seeds. He seems to be helping.” However, she continued watching to find out who the real thief was.
The Weasel, determined to clear his name, approached the Mouse. “Dear neighbor,” he said, “we should always help each other, right?”
The Mouse agreed happily, twitching her whiskers. The Weasel then told her about the sesame seeds. “Everyone has had their share. You should have some too; you deserve it more than anyone else!”
Excited and trusting the Weasel, the Mouse quickly came out of her hole after he left. She saw the spread of white sesame seeds and the farmer’s wife sitting nearby with a stick in hand. Overcome with excitement and not thinking of the consequences, the Mouse ran forward to eat the seeds.
At that moment, the farmer’s wife caught the Mouse in the act and quickly stopped her with a swing of her stick. The careless Mouse was caught, while the cunning Weasel escaped suspicion. The Mouse then realized that she should have been wary of the Weasel, who had manipulated the situation for his own benefit, and that her carelessness had led to trouble.
Once upon a time, in a small, quirky village, there lived a Mouse and a Weasel in the cozy home of a farmer. Now, the farmer had a friend who was feeling a bit under the weather—you know, the kind of under-the-weather where even the clouds are saying, “Cheer up, mate!” The doctor said, “What this fellow needs are sesame seeds. They’ll do the trick!”
So, the farmer, being a good friend, got some sesame seeds from another pal and handed them to his wife. “Here, dear,” he said, “let’s work some magic with these seeds and get my buddy back on his feet!”
The farmer’s wife, who was as wise as an owl with a library card, soaked the seeds, peeled them, and laid them out to dry in the warm sun. The seeds gleamed like tiny pearls, and you know what they say about pearls—they’re hard to resist! And resist, the Weasel did not.
The Weasel, with his eyes twinkling like he’d just found the world’s best candy stash, couldn’t help himself. “Just one… or two… or maybe a dozen,” he muttered as he started sneaking the sesame seeds to his den, thinking he was the smoothest operator in the whole village.
Soon enough, most of the seeds were gone, and the farmer’s wife noticed the shortage. “Hmm,” she said, narrowing her eyes, “either these seeds are really into extreme dieting, or someone’s been helping themselves!” Deciding to get to the bottom of this sesame mystery, she kept watch over the seeds like a hawk that had just spotted a mouse doing the cha-cha.
Sure enough, along came the Weasel, looking all nonchalant, like he was just out for a stroll. But as soon as he spotted the farmer’s wife, he froze. “Uh-oh,” he thought, “this is not good. I need to look like a hero, not a villain.” So, he started bringing the seeds back, acting like he was the hero of the day. “Look at me, just doing my part!” he practically whistled.
The farmer’s wife, seeing this little show, scratched her head. “Well, I’ll be… Maybe he’s not the thief after all. Seems like he’s just doing his civic duty. How sweet.” But she wasn’t quite convinced and decided to keep watching.
The Weasel, thinking he’d better seal the deal, went over to the Mouse’s hole. “Hey there, friend!” he said in his smoothest voice. “You know, we’ve got to look out for each other in this big, wide world. How about I help you out?”
The Mouse, always up for a friendly chat and a snack, twitched her whiskers. “Well, that sounds just lovely!” she squeaked.
The Weasel grinned, his plan coming together perfectly. “You deserve a treat! Go on, help yourself to some of those sesame seeds. You’ve earned it!”
The Mouse, thrilled at the thought of a sesame feast, scurried out of her hole as soon as the Weasel left. She spotted the seeds glistening in the sun, and without a second thought, she darted forward, dreaming of a sesame banquet.
But just as she was about to dig in, WHAM! The farmer’s wife, who had been waiting with a stick, caught the Mouse in the act. “Gotcha!” she said, shaking her head. “And here I was, thinking it was the Weasel. Looks like I found my sesame snatcher!”
The Mouse, wide-eyed and a bit dazed, realized she had been tricked. Meanwhile, the Weasel, hidden away in his den, chuckled to himself. “Well, that worked out nicely,” he murmured, nibbling on a sesame seed he’d saved for himself.
And so, the Mouse learned a valuable lesson: not everyone who offers you a snack has your best interests at heart, especially if they’re a sneaky Weasel with a glint in their eye.
In a village, not far away,
A Weasel and a Mouse did stay.
They lived within a farmer's home,
In corners where they’d freely roam.
One day, the farmer’s friend grew ill,
The doctor’s words were clear and still,
"Sesame seeds will do the trick,
To help him heal and not be sick."
The farmer’s wife, with care and speed,
Prepared the seeds from husk and seed.
She laid them out to dry and shine,
But the Weasel thought, "These could be mine!"
He took the seeds, just one by one,
Until the farmer’s wife was done.
She noticed that the seeds had shrunk,
And thought, “There’s been some sneaky spunk!”
So she kept watch, both day and night,
To catch the thief within her sight.
She spied the Weasel, bold and sly,
Who saw her there and thought, "Oh my!"
To prove his innocence, he schemed,
“I’ll return the seeds," he beamed.
The farmer’s wife, with puzzled frown,
Watched him put the seeds back down.
The Weasel grinned and had a plan,
He’d trick the Mouse to take the can.
“Dear Mouse,” he said with charm and glee,
“These seeds are meant for you, not me!”
The Mouse, so eager, didn’t think,
She rushed right out in just a blink.
But the farmer’s wife was ready there,
With stick in hand and watchful stare.
The Mouse was caught, the plan complete,
The Weasel’s trick was quite the feat.
And so the lesson here is clear,
Beware of those who seem sincere.
