Audio available for B1 version

Once upon a time, a family of mice lived in a house. One day, a cat came to the house and started catching the mice one by one. The mice were terrified and quickly ran to their hiding places.

The cat, thinking that it had outsmarted the mice, decided to hang itself from a peg, pretending to be a bag. The cat believed that the mice would come out of their hiding places to investigate and it could easily catch them.

However, the mice were much smarter than the cat thought. They saw through the cat's trickery and refused to come out of their hiding places. The cat hung there for a long time, waiting in vain for a mouse to come out.

Eventually, the cat realized that it had been outwitted by the clever mice. It gave up its plan and slunk away in shame, vowing never to underestimate the intelligence of mice again.

And so, the mice were able to live in peace and safety, thanks to their quick thinking and cleverness in outsmarting the cat.

Once upon a rather odd Tuesday, there was this family of mice living in a house. Quite cozy, actually. But these weren't just any ordinary mice. Oh no! They were clever little chaps with a flair for theatrics, riddles, and tea parties. And cheese, obviously.

Then, one day, a cat sauntered into the house. And not just any cat! This one thought itself to be a tactical genius with all the cunning of a spy movie. The cat started chasing after the mice, who scurried about exclaiming, "Goodness gracious! A cat in boots, without the boots!"

The mice zipped into their hiding places faster than you can say 'blue cheese crumpet'. Now, the cat, feeling quite proud and maybe a bit like James Bond, decided to perform a stunt. It hung itself from a peg, pretending to be a bag.

"Why be a cat when you can be a bag?" it mused, thinking the mice would fall for its trick.

The mice, however, peered out from their hidey-holes, one mouse remarking, "Do you think that's a new type of purse? Looks rather furry!"

Another mouse chimed in, "Who hung up a cat-bag? Was it fashion week and no one told me?"

They giggled and snickered, seeing through the cat's rather amusing attempt at trickery. The cat hung there like last year's Christmas decoration, waiting for the mice to emerge. But the clever mice just sat back and enjoyed a cup of tea, quite amused by the whole thing.

Finally, after what felt like seventeen eternities and a summer vacation, the cat gave up. It realized, "Blimey, these mice are smarter than a professor at cheese university!"

It slunk away in shame, tail tucked between its legs, vowing never to underestimate the brilliance of mice again. Perhaps it was time for a career change. Maybe as a doorstop?

And so, the mice continued to live in peace, safety, and a steady supply of cheese, all thanks to their quick thinking, clever banter, and rather impressive collection of teacups.

Deep in the cozy corner of a bustling town,
Lived clever little mice, not one wearing a frown.
A happy family they were, nimble, quick, and spry,
In their tiny mouse-house, under the blue sky.

But one day arrived, with whiskers and a glare,
A sneaky, sly cat, who caused quite a scare.
One by one, it hunted, the mice hid with fright,
In crannies and nooks, out of the cat's sight.

This cat, so smug, thought, "I'll outsmart them today!
I'll hang from a peg like a bag, in a clever display.
The mice will emerge, curious as can be,
Then one by one, they'll be dinner for me!"

But those mice were wise, they peeked with keen eyes,
And saw through the cat's oh-so-clever disguise.
They chuckled and giggled, in their hidden domain,
"The cat thinks it's smart, but we'll prove it's vain."

The cat waited and waited, its paws growing sore,
No mouse would emerge, not one, nor two, nor four.
It hung there in vain, its plan all awry,
Not a single mouse fooled, no matter how it did try.

Finally, it slunk away, its pride all but gone,
Its whiskers drooping, its sneaky smile withdrawn.
"Never again," it vowed, "will I underestimate,
The cleverness of mice, and their intelligent trait."

And so, the mice danced in joyous delight,
Their quick thinking had won, without a real fight.
They feasted and played, in peace and with glee,
Safe in their home, as happy as could be.
