The Peasant and the Eagle
Text Version

Once upon a time, on a bright, sunny day, a farmer was taking a walk. As he walked, he saw an Eagle caught in a net. The bird looked very beautiful, and because the farmer was a kind man, he decided to help the Eagle and set it free.

After the Eagle was free, it flew high into the sky. The farmer felt tired and hot from the sun, so he chose to rest in the cool shade beside an old wall. He sat down on a stone to take a break. Soon, he saw the Eagle fly down, take his hat from his head, and fly away with it.

The farmer was surprised and watched as the Eagle dropped his hat far away. He scratched his head, wondering why the Eagle, which he had helped, would do such a thing.

When he walked back to his resting spot by the old wall, he was shocked and thankful to see that the wall had fallen into a pile of stones right where he had been sitting. Looking up at the sky with his hat in hand, the farmer smiled, understanding that the Eagle had saved him from a dangerous fall.
