Text Version

Once upon a time, there was a Dog and a Rooster who were best friends. They lived happily on a farm but were eager to see more of the world. One day, they decided it was time to have an adventure. So, they left the farm and walked along a road that took them into the woods.

As night fell, the Rooster began to look for a place where they could sleep. He saw a hollow tree close by and thought it was the perfect spot. The Dog could easily fit inside the hollow, and the Rooster could sleep on a branch above. They settled down there and slept soundly through the night.

At dawn, the Rooster woke up. For a brief moment, he forgot he wasn't on the farm. He jumped up, flapped his wings, and crowed loudly. But this time, his crowing didn't wake up the farmer; it woke a Fox who was living in the woods.

The Fox, who thought the Rooster would make a tasty breakfast, rushed to the tree where the Rooster was. He greeted the Rooster warmly, "Hello there, dear sir! I'm happy to meet you here. I think we could be great friends."

The Rooster, seeing the Fox's intentions, replied cleverly, "Thank you for your kind words, sir. Please go to the door at the base of the tree, and my servant will let you in."

The clueless Fox, excited for a meal, went around to the door of the tree. As he waited, the Dog quickly jumped out and scared the Fox away, saving his friend the Rooster.
